Editorial and corrections policy

These are the rules every Scorely news story, match report, preview and analysis follows. If a story does not meet them, it is not published or it gets corrected.

Last updated:

What we publish

News, transfers, previews, match reports and analysis for the competitions each edition covers. Every story is about a specific, dated fact and links to Scorely's match, team and competition pages.

Sources and checks

  • Every story cites at least two sources from two different outlets or sites, linked at the end.
  • Match figures (score, scorers, minute, table) are checked against the ESPN data Scorely uses.
  • We do not copy: an automatic check compares each story with its sources and rejects it if it repeats their sentences.
  • We do not publish rumours without an identifiable source or headlines that promise something the story does not deliver.

Dates and images

  • Every story shows its publication date and, when it changes, its update date.
  • Photos carry a credit and a licence (Wikimedia Commons, official club and league media or TheSportsDB). With no licensed photo, we use a generic sport or stadium image, never a photo without permission.

Betting and responsible gambling

  • We never use "sure win", "guaranteed", "100%" or any promise of winnings.
  • Odds and probabilities are information only and are explained in our methodology.
  • Advertising is kept apart from editorial content, labelled, and its links carry rel="sponsored". No advertiser reviews or approves stories.
  • 18+ only. Nothing we publish is a "sure win". Help: National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133 · self-exclusion with GAMSTOP · GamCare.

Corrections

If a story has a mistake, we fix it at the same URL, change the update date and, if the mistake affected an important fact (result, date, name, figure), we say so at the end of the story. To report a mistake: [email protected], with the URL and the fact.

When two stories cover the same thing, we keep one and redirect the other to it.
