Who signs

"Redacción Scorely" is the newsroom's shared byline. When a person signs a story, their name will appear on it with a page of their own.

How a story is written

  • We start from the data of the game or event (score, scorers, table, fixtures) that Scorely receives from ESPN.
  • We gather at least two sources published by different outlets and cite them with links.
  • The newsroom uses automated tools, including artificial intelligence, to organise the data and prepare the text. The final text has to pass the checks below; if it does not, it is not published.
  • Each story is written for its edition, in American English with Eastern Time.

Checks before publishing

  • Headline, standfirst of up to 155 characters, dates, league, teams, category and byline required.
  • Length: 350 to 700 words for match reports, previews and analysis; 250 to 700 for short news and transfer pieces.
  • At least two sources from different domains.
  • Copy check against the sources (repeated 8-word phrases).
  • If a story has an image, its credit is required.
  • One match report per game.
