The Premier League's summer transfer window ran from 15 June to 11pm BST on Tuesday 1 September, and its last night produced the joint-biggest fee in the competition's history: Enzo Fernández's £125m move from Chelsea to Manchester City. With the league about to resume after the October international break, this is a review of the main confirmed deals and the signings that have settled quickest.
Which were the biggest Premier League deals of summer 2026?
At least three transfers went past £100m. Fernández's fee, reported by BBC Sport, was described by ESPN as a joint Premier League record. Earlier in the summer Chelsea paid £117m for Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, a record for a British player, and City spent £116m on Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.
| Player | From | To | Reported fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enzo Fernández | Chelsea | Manchester City | £125m |
| Morgan Rogers | Aston Villa | Chelsea | £117m |
| Elliot Anderson | Nottingham Forest | Manchester City | £116m |
| Iliman Ndiaye | Everton | Manchester City | £65m |
| Jérémy Jacquet | Rennes | Liverpool | £60m |
| Matias Fernandez-Pardo | Lille | Newcastle United | £51.4m |
| Ibrahim Mbaye | Paris Saint-Germain | Aston Villa | £47m |
| Luka Vušković | Tottenham Hotspur | Brighton | £46m |
Liverpool's deal for Jacquet was agreed in January, but the defender only joined in July. Vušković's fee is a Brighton club record.
What happened on deadline day?
City were the busiest of the big clubs on 1 September, adding Ndiaye as well as Fernández. Villa signed Mbaye, an 18-year-old who played at the World Cup for Senegal, plus Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Southampton for £29m. Liverpool brought in Lucca Brughmans from Genk for £30m, and Brighton replaced Carlos Baleba, sold to Manchester United, with Chema Andrés from Stuttgart for £15.5m.
Hull City were among the most active clubs that night. According to BBC Sport's list of completed deals, they signed Tim Iroegbunam from Everton for £22m, Brooke Norton-Cuffey from Genoa for £12m, Sorba Thomas from Stoke City and Christos Mouzakitis from Olympiacos. Loans also moved several established names: Jack Grealish went from City to Everton, Mykhailo Mudryk from Chelsea to Tottenham, and Kevin Danso from Tottenham to Sunderland.
Which summer signings have made the biggest impact?
ESPN's Sam Tighe ranked the ten best arrivals after five league games, and the top of his list is not a big-money name. Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, signed for about £17m, is first: he has kept three clean sheets, saved a penalty from Newcastle's Yoane Wissa and claimed more crosses (11) than any other keeper in the division. Hull have eight points from five matches.
Jacquet is second, rated the best one-against-one defender in the league by the data company Gradient. Anderson is third, leading City for tackles and interceptions. Vušković, Brentford midfielder Mamadou Sangaré (£38.5m) and Rogers, who has seven goals and assists for Chelsea in all competitions, complete the top six.
Further down, the list includes Leeds centre-back Tarik Muharemović (€40m), Aston Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who replaced Emiliano Martínez after his move to Chelsea, Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis (€40m) and Ronald Araújo, on loan at Liverpool from Barcelona with a €55m option to buy next summer. ESPN said Fernández came close to a place but has created defensive problems for City that still need solving.
When does the next transfer window open?
The January window is the next chance for Premier League clubs to register new players. Free agents, however, can sign at any time, and several Championship clubs have already used that route since the deadline.
